Saffron is a powerful spice, and only a small amount is needed. Using it correctly helps release its
golden colour, rich aroma, and delicate flavour. Whether you are adding saffron to tea, milk, rice,
desserts, or juice, the right method makes a big difference.
Start slowly if you are new to saffron
If you are trying saffron for the first time, it is better to start slowly. Use a small amount first,
then increase gradually. This helps you enjoy saffron in a simple and careful way.
Use 4–5 strands per tea cup
For one tea cup, use around 4–5 saffron strands. You can add the strands to warm water, normal water,
tea, or milk. Warm liquid usually helps the saffron release its colour and aroma more effectively.
Wait 20–30 minutes
After adding saffron to your liquid, wait around 20–30 minutes. During this time, the liquid will slowly
turn into a beautiful golden colour. Once the colour is released, you can drink it or add it to your recipe.
For larger amounts
For around 500 ml of liquid, you can use approximately 7–8 saffron strands. This can be used with water,
milk, juice, or other suitable drinks. Always avoid using more than the recommended amount.
Crush for stronger colour and flavour
For best results, gently crush saffron using a mortar and pestle. Once crushed into a fine powder,
add only a tiny amount to your drink or recipe. Powdered saffron releases colour, aroma, and flavour
more quickly than whole strands.
Important warning
Please do not exceed the recommended dosage. Saffron is a premium spice, and a small amount is enough
to enjoy its natural colour, aroma, and flavour.
